Privacy
What this site records, and why.
This site measures how people use it, because that's part of what it demonstrates. It does that without cookies, without third parties, and without keeping anything that identifies you.
Recorded
- Interaction events: pages viewed, projects opened, sections reached, architecture components clicked, links followed, CV downloads. The full list is below.
- A random tab-session ID, kept in your browser's sessionStorage and gone when you close the tab. It isn't a cookie and it isn't shared.
- Device type (mobile, tablet or desktop), browser family and operating system family, worked out from the user-agent. The raw string isn't stored.
- The referring website's domain only, never the full address.
- Your country, as a two-letter code supplied by Cloudflare. Nothing more precise.
Not recorded
- Your IP address. It's combined with a random salt that changes every day to make a one-way daily visitor code, and then discarded. The old salt is deleted, so visits on different days can't be linked.
- Anything you type, except messages you choose to send through the contact form.
- Nothing is shared with advertising, analytics or social media companies. No third-party scripts are loaded. On TFCD pages, video thumbnails come from YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com), and a YouTube player (privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com) loads only after you press play.
Retention
Raw events are deleted after 180 days and session summaries after 400 days. Daily totals are copied to a private Google Sheet I use for reporting. Contact messages are kept until I archive them.
